    The Tchoupitoulas Indians originally occupied Kenner. The area that Kenner occupies was the 1st place that the Europeans set foot in Louisiana. In fact Rene’ Robert Cavelier Sieur de LaSalle landed here in 1682.

    Kenner was founded in 1855 by Minor Kenner on land that consisted of three plantations purchased by the Kenner family. It’s boundaries are Lake Ponchartrain to the north and the Mississippi River to the South. The city has 15.2 square miles and a population of 66,702 according to the 2010 census.

    The City of Kenner is home to Louis Armstrong International Airport, Treasure Chest Casino, and the Esplanade Mall.
